Currently we are on the Week Three menu

Mrs Marie Shrimpton, our cook, is now using the new summer menus.

This is the county-wide Primary Choice menu - a four week rotation.

Our parent/grandparent lunches have always been popular. Now they are available on ANY DAY. Adults just need to order their meals on a Monday, then pay when they come in to eat. Orders to the Office, by letter via a pupil, by telephone 01543 274788 or by e-mail admin@gorsemoor.sch.uk

School visits\ events

  • Open Evening is 6 to 8pm on Monday.
  •  Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Day delayed to September  
  • Wendy Precious will present school with their Silver Science Mark in KS1 assembly on Thursday. Miss Payne co-ordinated this with evidence supplied from all year groups.
  • Year 6 have their ‘Leavers’ Lunch’ on Thursday afternoon. (click to see menu)
  • Classes meet their new teachers on Thursday at 3pm.
  • Star of the Year Assemblies are on Friday at 10am and 2pm.
  • Year 6 production  - Joseph  and the Amazing Technicolour  Dreamcoat – photos on Year 6 page – available to download.

  • EYFS questionnaires back by Thursday please.
  • NEW year planner available from here  – Reception and Nursery parents be aware that changes have been made.
  • We break up on Friday at 3.30pm and pupils return at 8.55am on Tuesday 7thSeptember.
  • Nurse Heather’s Drop-in sessions will be on Wednesday afternoons from September, 3.30 to 4pm.
  • This term sees Mrs Johns and Mrs Fairhurst retire; Mrs Ball leaving to train as a teacher at Jerome Primary School; Mrs Blankley leaving to become Deputy Head at Chancel Primary School; Miss Samra getting married and moving to Leicester; Mrs Betteridge and Mrs Walton taking maternity leave and of course Miss Millington confirmed as Deputy Head at Jerome Primary school.
  • Education City homework package available - 3 year subscription £10, Year 5 1 year subscription £5 PER CHILD. Slips and money by Monday 28th please (Mrs Heath).
  • Reading scheme and group reading books are missing. Please check bookshelves, bags and even under beds. Please return to the Office.

Clubs

  • School has been allocated funding to support children in out-of-school activities. If  you would like access to this funding and to find out what it could mean for  your child/ren , please call school for an appointment.

Announcements

  • As part of Early Years/ Foundation stage children access outdoor areas all year. Mrs Mills is  asking for donations of rain coats and Wellingtons.
  • Our Ofsted report was released to parents on Friday 25th June. Mr Bennett’s cover letter explained how pleased he was and how proud he thought we all should be. Contact the office if you wish to discuss any aspect with Mr Bennett. The final report has been published on-line by Ofsted - click here for the link.
  • Interested pupils have received letters about instrument hire and tuition. Prices available.

  •  Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals.  Ask at the school Office.
  •  2Simple 2Type – www.2simple.com (Click online) Simple City for use with Nursery and  Reception pupils  and 2Type for keyboard fluency any age are freely available from home.  Login and password from Mrs Heath.
  • Mrs Heath  promoted Softease – 9 computer programs for £10 per family.
  • All parent helpers who help in school MUST be CRB checked. This can be done online. Ask at the Office for details.  
  • Nurse Heather:- Drop-in sessions for parents on Wednesdays - From September this will be 3.30 to 4pm, Ask at the Office for appointments and contact details.
  • Mouth Guards -for sports lessons. Ask at Office.

Farlea’s Kids Club, proprietor Annie Mahoney, Manager Natalie Hems, organise a breakfast club and after-school club for Gorsemoor School pupils. Breakfast club operates from 7.30am to 8.50 am when children are taken to the playground. From 7.30am costs £4.50 per session, from 8.30am costs £3.50 per session. After-school club is from 3.30 to 6pm at £6.75 per session. Phone 07968 940280 for details. Head Office 01543 459680

Send in with your child to deposit in the boxes in the Library or classrooms.

Boxtops - Nestle cereals - for Library books. Final count with bonuses makes 885 for this year. Thanks everyone, keep collecting books will be ordered soon!

Used Stamps from envelopes - rip carefully around the stamp without tearing it - Nurse Heather collects stamps to support Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. Please hand in at the Office.

All vouchers are received in the Library.

Recycling

Printer ink cartridges

This year-round scheme brings in money for IT. If you have used printer cartridges, just pop them in the recycling bin in the computer room, by the printer. Any brand, any style.

Car Park

For safety reasons a barrier has been installed at our vehicle entrance. Parents are reminded NOT to block that entrance before or after school or at lunchtime.
