Reminders for Week of 15th March 2010

School visits\ events

  • This week is Science Week. The theme is EARTH to complement the International Year of Biodiversity – the four Think Tank shows on Wednesday mean a £1 contribution per child please. KS1 the Pirate Push and pull show and KS2 the Luminous Light Show.
  • Year 6 pupils who visited Chemnitz are having a parents’ assembly at 2pm on Tuesday. Thanks to Renault for the £200 donation.
  • Nurse Heather’s Drop-in sessions are on Wednesday mornings, 9 am to 9.30am
  • At 7.30pm on Wednesday there is a PTFA meeting in the staffroom. All welcome.
  • Two pupils with Miss Ledo attending an animation workshop in Stafford on Friday.
  • Miss Price and the sports leaders are planning an event for Sports Relief.
  • Year 6 Practice SATs moved to next week.
  • DON’T Forget – our Thorntons Eggstravaganza is next Monday!
  • Year 4 pupils and parents have been invited to Stranmillis school in Belfast during June.
  • REMEMBER Pupils need a NAMED pair of headphones  to be left at school for ICT and RM maths work.

Clubs

  • Monday 22nd March girls’ football league match against St Joseph’s and St Theresa’s Primary,  leaving Gorsemoor at 3.15pm.
  • Swimming for Year 4 on Tuesdays.
  • Netball club for Year 6 on Tuesdays after school  3.30 to 4.30pm.
  • Football  training after-school for boys Years 4, 5 and 6 on Tuesdays and for girls Years  3,  4, 5 and 6 on Wednesdays.
  • Choir practice  for KS2 on Tuesdays after school ‘til 4.30pm with Mrs Betteridge.
  • Friday after-school  Sports Active football course 3.30 to 4.30pm.

Club

Farlea’s Kids Club, proprietor Annie Mahoney, Manager Natalie Hems, organise a breakfast club and after-school club for Gorsemoor School pupils. Breakfast club operates from 7.30am to 8.50 am when children are taken to the playground. From 7.30am costs £4.50 per session, from 8.30am costs £3.50 per session. After-school club is from 3.30 to 6pm at £6.75 per session. Phone 07968 940280 for details. Head Office 01543 459680

Books for Schools - The Times newspaper

Mrs Fraser has received 17 books from Books For Schools (Times newspaper). The collection has now finished.

Used Stamps from envelopes - rip carefully around the stamp without tearing it - Nurse Heather collects stamps to support Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. Please hand in at the Office.

All vouchers are received in the Library.

Recycling

Printer ink cartridges

This year-round scheme brings in money for IT. If you have used printer cartridges, just pop them in the recycling bin in the computer room, by the printer. Any brand, any style.

Car Park

For safety reasons a barrier has been installed at our vehicle entrance. Parents are reminded NOT to block that entrance before or after school or at lunchtime.

Currently we are on the Week Two menu see below for changes

Mrs Marie Shrimpton, our cook, is now using the new winter menus.

This is the county-wide Primary Choice menu - a four week rotation. So that all children have a chance to choose a roast dinner as their school meal, Wednesday and Thursday menus will alternate fortnightly.  On Weeks 2 and 4 the Thursday menu will be available instead on Wednesday and vice versa.
