Candidate Statement

I am a dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic and open-minded parent of 2 very different children.  I am passionate about education and think very highly of Gorsemoor Primary School.  I have a degree in sociology, crime, deviance and society. I volunteer for a charity called ‘Nacoa’ supporting vulnerable children of alcoholics and have lots of experience dealing with individuals from all walks of life.

I currently work part-time for a housing association as a ‘Housing Enabler’ for adults with learning difficulties and mental health issues.  I have knowledge of the local authority, supporting people’s services, social services, local opportunities and organisations that are able to be used by vulnerable adults and children.  I work with commissioners, management and leaders to achieve actions and outcomes.  I am able to work well independently or part of a team.  I am confident to challenge others in a constructive manner and am dedicated to getting a job done.

Through my current job, which I have had for over 10 years I have vast experience in Learning Difficulties and have knowledge of SEN.  I also have a child with Autism so have personally experienced the journey and challenges that families face.

Now my daughter is in full time education I would love to be able to be involved as a Governor.  I have time I can give, skills I can transfer, knowledge to share plus the will to learn to become a valued member of an already strong team.

I am so proud of the recent progression that Gorsemoor has made.  I would love the opportunity to further help to progress our school.
