Candidate Statement

As a parent with two children now attending Gorsemoor Primary (Years 1 and 5) I have a vested interest in ensuring the school continues to promote an excellent and well-rounded education to all pupils.

After serving as a Parent Governor for the past 4 years, I have seen trials and tribulations a plenty!  However, following the Ofsted visit and the recent warning notice issued by the LA, the work that the staff and GB have put in has finally been recognised and the school is now in a much stronger position to move into the coming years.

Over the past four years, I have learnt what an impact school has on our children and following the changes to leadership and the increased scrutiny we have seen over the past months Gorsemoor is now in a great position to drive a positive impact daily.  As part of the Governing Board, we must strive to ensure that we get it right and those influences will continue throughout our children’s school life.

As a Parent Governor, I will support the school, but be assured, when necessary, I have in the past and will continue to put the school under tough scrutiny.  I am not afraid to ask difficult questions and I am used to speaking out and up for what is most important.

Frankly, there is nothing more important than our children.

I am always happy to chat (as some of you may know!) so if you wish to see me before re-election to ask any questions, feel free!

Here’s to continuing to develop the curriculum, policies, finances, staff and pupils in order to get Gorsemoor back in the centre of the community where it belongs. Also, back as a recognised ‘high quality’ school who are passionate about their children!
