At Gorsemoor, we are committed to protecting our children online. We do this through a robust online safety curriculum, which is underpinned by ProjectEVOLVE. The Digital Learning Lead, PSHE Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead meet regularly to discuss prevalent issues and class teachers adapt their planning to address these.
Alongside our curriculum, we help to educate parents and carers regarding online risks through termly Online Safety workshops. We also post guides from the National Online Safety hub regularly via Class Dojo.
The ProjectEVOLVE toolkit is based on the UKCIS framework “Education for a Connected World” (EFACW). This framework covers knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes across eight strands of our online lives from early years right through to eighteen. These outcomes or competencies are mapped to age and progress. The statements guide educators to the areas that they should be discussing with children as they develop their use of online technology.
We utilise resources from the National Online Safety Hub to offer support to staff, parents and carers in regard to their understanding of online safety and the associated risks. Results from pupil surveys tell us that the most used apps by pupils at Gorsemoor are YouTube, WhatsApp and Roblox. We have therefore attached below parent support guides for these apps below. If you would like support with any other aspect of online safety, please contact our DSL, Mrs Porter using the following email address:
