Ensuring that our pupils gain life-long experiences and make lasting memories will always remain one of our key priorities here at Gorsemoor. We endeavour to provide our children with experiences that not only enhance their learning, but inspire them for the future. Below, we are delighted to share just a handful of trips, visits and visitors that our pupils have had during their time here at Gorsemoor.
Here at Gorsemoor we are proud members of our local community. Each year we continue to build on existing relationships and strive to create new links with local partners, in order to promote our pupils' sense of belonging within our local area. Our character virtue of 'Global and Local' also enables us to focus on the importance community for an entire half-term, where each year group focusses on global and local issues. We pride ourselves on our dedication to local events and causes, and make it our mission for Gorsemoor to be a strong pillar of our community.
Community events we have been included in include:
Each year we conduct a pupil voice survey to ascertain which extra-curricular clubs our pupils would like to see at Gorsemoor. We are thrilled to offer our pupils the opportunity to learn new skills, undertake fresh challenges and make new memories through our after-school club provision. Following the results from our pupil voice, staff in school have gone above and beyond to offer our students a wide range of clubs such as baking, multi-sports, basketball, netball, art, bedtime stories, tag rugby, running, construction, LEGO, cycling and many more!
This year we are delighted to be undertaking the Excellence in Pupil Personal Development Award through Optimus Education. This award offers a structured framework to evaluate and enrich our pastoral curriculum here at Gorsemoor. It supports us in in developing pupil’s personal attributes and attitudes, such as self-confidence, resilience and self-discipline. With a focus on involving local and national organisations, it helps us to prepare our pupils at Gorsemoor for life in modern Britain. We are hoping to achieve this award by June 2025.
