     Independence Taught

Reception children learnt about the virtue of independence when they were tasked with their own challenge to look after a toy from home all week! This taught them a valuable lesson of how to carefully look after something that is meaningful to them, so that they could begin to apply this in and out of school with their other belongings.

Year 2 learnt about the virtue of independence and how famous historical figures showed courage and resilience in times of hardship. Our pupils then went on to write their own inspirational messages!

    Independence Caught

It is our mission to live and breathe our character virtues through our school community, relationships and ethos. This is why it is so important to us here at Gorsemoor to celebrate moments when character is caught by our pupils, staff, families, governors, visitors and wider community!

Take a look at some lovely feedback we have had...

“It's an absolute pleasure working with the children at Gorsemoor. The children are a credit to the school, as are the staff. It’s so refreshing to see a school who have a genuine and caring investment in what helps and supports their children.” - Family Action Practitioner

Our staff have been working hard to capture independence 'in the moment'. Our house points last half term show that the 2nd most awarded virtue/value in Spring 1 was independence with 530 points given!

    Independence Sought

Our extra-curricular activities at Gorsemoor enable independence to be sought in the most organic way!  Through trips, visits, visitors, pupil leadership, school events, during and after-school clubs, and volunteering, our pupils demonstrate their independence in a whole host of ways! Have a look at some examples below!
