    Reception Admissions

At Gorsemoor Primary School, all applications for Reception places must be made through Staffordshire County Council’s admissions process. The Local Authority is responsible for allocating places in accordance with their admissions policy, ensuring a fair and transparent system for all applicants.

When allocating places, priority is given to children who live within the school’s catchment area, as defined by Staffordshire County Council. Additionally, preference is given to siblings of children who are already attending Gorsemoor Primary School. Families who are unsure whether they fall within the catchment area can contact the school office for guidance or visit the Staffordshire County Council admissions page for further details.

Each year, we can admit up to 60 pupils into Reception, in line with our Published Admission Number (PAN). Children begin their Reception year in September of the academic year in which they turn five years old.

If a child is not allocated a place at Gorsemoor Primary School, parents have the right to appeal the decision. Appeals are handled through Staffordshire County Council’s standard procedures, and full details about the process can be obtained from either the school office or the council’s admissions department.

For further information about admissions, including key dates and application forms, please contact the school directly or visit the Staffordshire County Council website:
