Children’s University

Here at Gorsemoor, we are committed to providing our students with a whole range of extra-curricular enrichment opportunities. Research shows that participation in extra-curricular activities can positively impact on attainment, increase a pupil’s positive identification with school, and build self-confidence and resilience.

As part of our commitment to support and encourage all the children to fulfil their full potential, we have signed up to become part of the Staffordshire Children’s University scheme. We believe that this will provide the children with a sense of ownership, pride and achievement.

Miss Deeming and Mrs Campbell have worked closely with Staffordshire University and other local schools within the area to help set up the Children's University within school and can offer further support and guidance to parents.

Through attending any of our clubs within school, children can earn points towards their Children's University Accreditation.

Children in KS2 are eligible to become part of the Children’s University scheme.  This is a national scheme which started in 2009 to encourage and reward children's participation in extra curricula activities, held both in and outside of school. Children are encouraged to develop new interests, join in new activities and are rewarded for this dedication. Validated activities enable children to collect stamps in their own Passport to Learning which in turn culminates in graduation from the Children’s UniversityThe first award is the Bronze award for 30 stamps then, from that point, there is a clear pathway through certificates, diplomas and degrees!  The ultimate goal is a Postgraduate Masters Degree!  This scheme has been hugely popular at other local schools and we are super excited to start it here at Gorsemoor! We can’t wait to attend our first Graduation ceremony with our Gorsemoor family!
